Submit a form to buy past service with a former registered pension plan

Use this form to buy past service for time you participated in a registered pension plan.


What you need to know

  • Read the Buying past service guide for a cost estimate based on your age and salary and important details about eligibility and deadlines.
  • You can apply to buy past service at any time while you’re an active member of the College Pension Plan. You must submit your application no later than 30 days of terminating all employment with the plan. Applications received after this deadline will not be accepted.
  • It may take up to 60 days to receive the completed application from your former registered pension plan (RPP), we recommend starting this process early.
  • The approximate amount of money you are considering using to buy service.
    • By providing this information on Part A of the application, we can provide an estimate of how much that amount could increase your pension.
  • You may be eligible to transfer service under a reciprocal transfer agreement. Transferring service, instead of buying service, may involve less steps for you and potentially less cost. See How to transfer service between public sector plans for more information.

Submit the form

  1. Download the Past Service Purchase Application (Former RPP).
  2. Complete Part A.
  3. Send the entire package to your former RPP; they will complete Part B and return the application to you.
    • If your former RPP is administered by BC Pension Corporation, we will not return the form to you.
    • If your former RPP is unable to provide this information, you may need to send the application directly to the employer with whom the service occurred.
  4. Submit the completed application and a copy of your valid ID to the College Pension Plan using My Account Message Centre.


If your funds are still with your former RPP do not move them until you’re ready to finalize your purchase.

By submitting the application, you are not obligated to buy the service. Once we have processed your application, we will send you a Statement of Cost outlining the cost, potential increase, and next steps, if you choose to proceed.

You’ll receive an email notification when the statement is available in My Account Message Centre.

Use this form if you are applying to buy service for:

  • Time you worked in Canada and participated in a registered pension plan (former RPP)
Required information
  • A valid copy of your ID.
