How to get a cost estimate

Find out the cost of buying service and how much your monthly pension benefit may increase.

  1. Sign in to My Account,
  2. Go to Estimates > Purchase cost estimator
  3. Follow the steps
  4. Use your estimate to help with decision making or consult with a financial adviser

Eligibility

Who can use the estimator

Most members who are eligible to buy service can use the purchase cost estimator. You may be able to use it if:

  • Your leave has ended
  • You’re within the deadline to apply
  • You’re actively employed by same employer

Who cannot use the estimator

You must submit the Purchase of Service Application to get a cost estimate if:

  • You want to make continuous contributions for an Employment Standards Act (ESA) leave
  • You have a former spouse who is entitled to a share of your pension
  • You’re currently working in a position where you do not make monthly pension contributions
  • You’re currently on long-term disability and want to buy back a previous leave
  • You want to buy service for ESA leave, and you were not working full time before the leave

By submitting the application, you are not committed to buying the service, this step helps you understand your options.
