2019 YMPE

Hot off the Canada Revenue Agency’s press – 2019 year’s maximum pensionable earnings

The 2019 year’s maximum pensionable earnings (YMPE) is $57,400.

When to use YMPE:

  • Reporting (e.g., optional and mandatory enrolment)
  • Contribution remittance
  • Canada Pension Plan payroll deductions

Reporting reminders

December and January reporting reminders

Please remember to provide us with your updated long-term disability (LTD) information in December and to submit your December 2018 Payroll Report in January 2019.

LTD Confirmation Report

We’ll send you an email with a link to instructions on what to do when the LTD Confirmation Report for your organization is posted to the secure employer website in December.

December 2018 Payroll Report

Submit your December 2018 Payroll Report to us by January 10, 2019. To prepare for the January 10 deadline, remember to report your employees’ additional positions on a secondary report rather than on your primary report.

Contribution rate increase

Stay tuned for contribution rate increase details – available February 1, 2019

On February 1, 2019, the plan will release details of employer and employee contribution rate increases effective April 1, 2019.

Plan partners agreed to increase contributions in step with negotiated salary increases for the college sector. Together with investment income, these funds provide cost-of-living adjustments to retired members.

Starting November 30, 2018, your employees who are plan members have a new secure way to get in touch with the plan – My Account Message Centre.

Message Centre saves member messages and our responses, and members can reference these saved conversations anytime.

Please encourage your employees to keep their contact information in My Account current.

General pension and cost estimators

General pension and cost estimators will be discontinued March 2019

The general estimators produce a simple estimate; this does not provide your employees who are plan members with the most accurate information for retirement planning.

In order to improve the member experience, the personalized pension and cost estimators were created to provide your employees with more accurate estimates.

These personalized estimators access a member’s current pension account information when calculating estimates, meaning the employee has to enter fewer details.

The general estimators will be discontinued effective March 2019. Your employees can access the personalized pension and cost estimators in My Account.

Next steps

If an employee would like your assistance creating an estimate, you can help them navigate the personalized estimators once they have signed in to My Account.
