Laura Nashman – Chief Executive Officer Laura Nashman is the chief executive officer of the British Columbia Pension Corporation and has been in the role since December 2008.
Laura is a high-performing senior executive who brings a fresh leadership style to her role. She has clear vision and her expertise as a strategic leader gives her the ability to deliver results. Laura creates space for everyone in her organization to thrive. She emphasizes the importance of maintaining strong relationships with staff and all key stakeholders.
Since joining the Pension Corporation, Laura’s focus has been on developing, strengthening and improving the corporation. She has paid particular attention to business processes, use of technology and building the foundational elements of a high performing organization to ensure the Pension Corporation continues to provide service excellence to plan boards and plan members.
In 2012 Laura spearheaded the creation of a new strategic plan for the Pension Corporation called 12|21 Our Way Forward. This nine-year strategy is an ambitious plan for business transformation that ensures the Pension Corporation meets the changing needs and expectations of plan members, employers, trustees and staff. Above all Laura has reshaped the culture at the Pension Corporation creating the organization-wide engagement and resiliency needed to bring the strategic plan to life.
Recently the Pension Corporation, under Laura’s leadership received “Gold” recognition from Excellence Canada. Excellence Canada recognizes organizations that embody the highest standards in leadership and governance, strategy and planning, customer experience, people engagement, process and project management and in relationships with partners and suppliers. In meeting the rigour of the Gold level of the Canada Awards for Excellence, BC Pension Corporation demonstrated it is one of the best managed organizations in Canada.
In 2017 Laura was recognized by Business in Vancouver magazine as one of their 2017 Influential Women in Business. She was also named as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network and recognized on Vancouver Magazine’s Power 50 list. Laura also has the designation of Director with the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) and serves on Excellence Canada’s Board of Directors. Laura is an active mentor for women leaders and emerging leaders who look to Laura for guidance and direction on their leadership practice and career development.
Laura lives in Victoria BC with her husband Lawrence Saunders and terribly misses her twin boys - both of whom are at university in Ontario. She is a high performing athlete in several sports including golf and cycling.
Kevin Olineck – Vice President, Member Experience Kevin Olineck joined the BC Pension Corporation as Vice President, Client Services Division, in May 2009. He is now Vice President of the Member Experience Division. Prior to joining the Pension Corporation he worked as Vice President, Pension Services, for the Alberta Pension Services Corporation. In addition to his experience in public sector pension administration, Kevin has held management positions within the Pension and Investment Management Division at Canada Life Assurance Company/Crown Life Insurance Company.
Since joining the corporation, Kevin has focused on defining and implementing a service delivery model for the corporation’s clients as well as providing strategic leadership to the Member Experience Division, which has responsibility for plan board, member and employer communications.
Kevin has a degree in Public Administration from the University of Saskatchewan, a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation and a Pension Plan Administration Certificate (PPAC). He has been a member of the Canadian Pension Benefits Institute (CPBI) for many years and is currently a member of the Pacific Council.
Dave Marecek – Vice President Transformation and Information Services Dave Marecek joined BC Pension Corporation in January 2012 from private sector IT consulting. He is accountable for Transformation and Information Services.
Dave has deep strengths and extensive experience in enterprise business transformation, management consulting, information management, information technology and human resources. Dave is a broad-thinking leader who likes to challenge the process and help employees succeed in their endeavors.
He is a real people person who takes pride in developing strong relationships with his staff and peers. As a passionate leader, he brings excellent operational and executive leadership skills to achieve consistent business results.
Dave holds a Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary. Dave is also an ex Canadian Navy Lieutenant.
Trevor Fedyna – Vice President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer Trevor joined the BC Pension Corporation in 2013 and is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Vice President of the Corporate Services Division. With more than 15 years of CFO and corporate services experience, he has worked for several public and private organizations in areas that include finance, strategic planning, enterprise risk management, human resources, communications, business development, operations, stakeholder relations, information technology and facilities.
During his seven years at BC Safety Authority as CFO and Vice President, Corporate Services, Trevor led the organization’s strategic planning processes. He helped the organization to not only establish a world-class operating model and financial sustainability, but also gain recognition as a Top 100 employer in Canada. In addition to his public sector experience, Trevor was CFO of the False Creek Surgical Centre, one of the leading private healthcare companies in Canada.
Since joining the corporation, Trevor has played a leading role in planning the transformation phase of our 12 to 21 strategic plan, enhancing our financial stewardship and increasing our employee engagement. He is a committed leader and recognizes the importance of enabling staff to be effective in their work.
Trevor has earned a Chartered Director designation (C. Dir.) and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA/CGA). He is also a member of the Audit Committee of the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
Aaron Walker-Duncan – Vice President, Board Services Aaron Walker-Duncan is the Vice President, Board Services, responsible for the delivery of support and services to the pension boards of trustees.
Aaron has been with the BC Pension Corporation since 2004. Most recently, he was the Director of Policy. Prior to his time at the corporation he was a benefits consultant with Deloitte in the United Kingdom where he advised clients on executive pension arrangements, acted as a professional trustee and managed pension issues associated with organizational insolvencies.
Aaron has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and holds a Financial Planning Certification and a Certificate in Securities. He has completed the Advanced Pension Education Program at Humber College and has a certificate in Advanced Trustee Management Standards.
Lanny Smith – Vice President, Pension Operations Lanny Smith is the Vice President of Pension Operations. Prior to this, he was the Client Services Director, since May 2009, and former Plan Director for the Municipal Pension Plan, Employer Services and Pension Services.
Lanny is committed to creating a supportive working environment through coaching and teamwork. He knows that motivated employees help provide a positive experience for members and employers.
Lanny has a diverse background, with degrees in political science, sociology and business administration, as well as financial services industry certification. He also has years of experience in pharmaceutical sales, banking, human resources and strategic planning at the management and executive levels.
