BC Pension Corporation CEO Laura Nashman recognized as one of Business in Vancouver’s 2017 Influential Women in Business

VICTORIA, BC, December 8, 2016—Business in Vancouver magazine has named British Columbia Pension Corporation CEO Laura Nashman as one of their 2017 Influential Women in Business. Laura was one of five women in British Columbia recognized by Business in Vancouver.

“I am humbled by this recognition. I consider it a reflection of the tremendous work we do at BC Pension Corporation—and a testament to our people who serve plan members, employers and trustees with professionalism and dedication. I am the product of the great organization I serve,” said BC Pension Corporation’s CEO Laura Nashman. “This award also speaks to the ongoing success of our strategic plan and our forward-thinking, positive culture.”

Through the Influential Women in Business Awards, Business in Vancouver recognizes BC’s most outstanding business women in private or public sector companies. Honourees have risen through the ranks to become senior executives or entrepreneurs and help influence and shape some of Canada’s top companies.

BC Pension Corporation is one of the largest pension service providers in Canada and the largest in BC, providing professional pension services on behalf of BC’s College, Municipal, Public Service, Teachers’ and WorkSafeBC pension plans. The corporation serves approximately 550,000 plan members and 1,100 plan employers.

In October, BC Pension Corporation was recognized as one of Canada’s best managed companies and was awarded Gold in Excellence Canada’s prestigious Excellence, Innovation and Wellness standard, which is under the patronage of His Excellency, the Right Honourable David Johnston, C.C., C.M.M., C.O.M., C.D., the Governor General of Canada. BC Pension Corporation is the only pension organization to achieve recognition from Excellence Canada.

In April 2012, BC Pension Corporation embarked on a comprehensive nine-year strategic plan. The strategic plan, From 12 to 21: Our Way Forward, is an ambitious program of business transformation that supports high service levels and cost-effective delivery through better use of technology, improved business process and continued attention to staff training and development.
