What we offer
BC Pension Corporation offers a challenging, creative, highly engaging work environment and values teamwork, trust, learning and accountability. Our staff provide pension plan members with information to make important financial and life decisions, and we are proud of the work we do to support British Columbia’s public sector pension plans.
Training and career development
We believe in building a strong workforce and equipping our employees with the knowledge and tools they need to serve our clients effectively and efficiently. To support this goal, Pension Corporation staff have access to ongoing training and professional development opportunities. In addition to regular training check-ins between employees and their supervisors as part of our performance review process, one such resource is our Learning Resource Center, a library full of career and personal development books, DVDs and other resources.
Awards and recognition programs
We believe in recognizing those employees who make strong contributions to the workplace through innovation, teamwork, leadership and hard work. Pension Corporation has various opportunities for recognition, such as:
- ACE Awards - a program dedicated to honouring team contributions and employee accomplishments at the Pension Corporation
- Long Service Awards - for full-time or part-time employees who will reach 25, 30, 35, 40 or 45 years with the BC Public Service
- Other individual, team and corporate accomplishments are celebrated on a year-round basis
We offer flex schedules to assist in meeting our employees’ needs. This involves working longer days to earn an extra day off bi-weekly. Instead of a bi-weekly flex day, employees can also choose to work normal five-day weeks with regular length days.
Health and welfare benefits
We are committed to the health and success of our employees. Health and welfare benefits at Pension Corporation include:
- BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) premium coverage
- Extended health and dental coverage through Pacific Blue Cross
- Short-term and long-term disability benefits
Pension and retirement benefits
We offer a number of retirement and insurance benefits, including:
- Employees contribute to the Public Service Pension Plan during their years of service at the corporation
- Personal life insurance and optional life insurance for employees and their families
- Canada Savings Bond payroll savings deductions
Health and wellness programs
We recognize that healthy, active employees are more engaged in the workplace. The HealthWorks committee was created to encourage employee involvement in activities that promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of all employees.
HealthWorks offers a variety of programs and activities that support this objective, such as seasonal events, fundraising activities, a corporate picnic, golf and curling tournaments, community health activities, health tips and recipes and monthly lunchtime seminars.
Staff are also able to access programs and services offered to all BC Public Service employees, such as the Health and Wellbeing program.
Fun corporate and community events
We believe in building a strong community—both within the corporation and in the community at large. Therefore, BC Pension Corporation takes part in various corporate and fundraising events throughout the year.
Staff Day takes place once a year, and is a truly special time when the entire corporation comes together to focus on who we are and where we’re going as an organization to ensure we continue to deliver efficient, effective service to our clients.
One Saturday each summer, employees and their families are invited to enjoy a day of fun in the sun, which includes food, games and the Pension Corporation Cup competition.
Social & Seasonal Events
Through the year, various events and activities give staff the opportunity to build connections with fellow staff, increase engagement and learn new skills.
BC Pension Corporation is proud to be involved in fundraising activities for various community and non-profit organizations such as the Provincial Employees Community Services Fund, Mustard Seed, Canadian Blood Services, Heart and Stroke Foundation, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, and Gorge Waterway Action Society.
