As an employer under the Plan, your organization will be able to offer your eligible staff membership in one of the best pension plans in Canada, a powerful attraction and retention tool.
The Municipal Pension Plan is a defined benefit plan, which means that a member’s pension is based on a formula of highest average salary and pensionable service, and not on the amount of contributions or the fund’s investment returns. Once plan members have accrued two years of service in the Plan, they are entitled to receive a pension benefit. Upon retirement, they will be eligible to receive a guaranteed paycheque for life.
