The plan serves almost 94,000 active, inactive and retired members and their employers in British Columbia. Members include teachers, vice-principals, principals and superintendents from school boards across the province. Plan membership is broken down as follows:
more than 44,900 active members contributing to the plan
more than 12,000 inactive members (members who are no longer with a plan employer but have contributions with the plan)
more than 36,000 retired members
The plan holds assets of more than $25 billion. The Teachers' Pension Plan is the ninth-largest defined benefit pension plan in Canada, according to data collected by Benefits Canada magazine.

If youíre an active member, youíve now received your 2016 Memberís Benefit Statement. The information in your statement is based on two sets of rules: those in effect before plan design changes take effect January 1, 2018, and those in effect on and after January 1, 2018. Please read this FAQ for more information.
